General Information

The School of Philology and Language Communication of Siberian Federal University was founded in 2008. The School started with two faculties which had been an integral part of Krasnoyarsk State University up to 2006, viz. Faculty of Philology and Journalism and Faculty of Modern Foreign Languages. In 2014 the faculties were reorganized into two faculties:

  • Faculty of Philology and Journalism
  • Faculty of Foreign Languages

Currently, the School of Philology and Language Communication numbers more than 1200 students and 100 academic staff (more than 40 have a master or doctor degree).

The School of Philology and Language Communication is engaged in training of high quality and ready for practical work specialists in international communication, translation and interpreting, philology and journalism.

Being an integral part of Siberian Federal University the School of Philology and Language Communication plays an important role in creation of advanced research and academic conditions for scientific and innovative development of the University. Due to its unique character, the School promotes the University image on the national level and internationally. Being the specialists in Russian and foreign languages, interpersonal and media communication, the School staff and students act as the agents or intercultural mediators, assist the international collaboration of the scholars and teaching staff of Siberian Federal University.

The School of Philology and Language Communication offers first degree level for full-time and part-time students, vocational language training for masters, postgraduates and scholars of Siberian Federal University.

The academic mission of School of Philology and Language Communication is high quality teaching and learning of the language; its role as means and tools of communication and production; scientific, technical, economic and cultural instrument.

The School is committed to providing a stimulating learning environment for students to get in-depth and detailed knowledge of cultures and regions where people use target languages (e.g. the Russian Federation, West Europe, South-East Asia, and North America).
